NANOTUBES

Carbon
Nanotubes — molecular tubes about 10,000
times thinner than a human hair -- consist of
rolled up sheets of carbon hexagons. Discovered
in 1991 by Sumio Lijima at NEC, Japan, they have
the potential for use as minuscule wires, medical
matrix for growth of bone cells, battery storage,
Field Emission Displays and much more. These nanotubes
are single molecules measuring a few nanometers
in diameter and several microns in length.
Nanotubes can be found in several forms; single-wall (having one single shell), double-wall and multi-wall. Depending on the growth process, single-wall, double-wall or multi-wall nanotubes can be selectively produced.
Carbon nanotubes come in a variety of diameters and lengths. Depending on the growth process and treatment, nanotubes can be selectively produced with properties ranging from 1 to15 nanometers in length and diameters from 2 to 100 nanometers. These nanotube powder comes in agglomerate and aligned bundles and can be put into dispersion using ultrasound process (see link dispersing of nanotubes) |
MULTI-WALL NANOTUBES

Typical produced multi-wall view under TEM.
Diameter range: 40-60 nm |
Our CVD Multi-wall nanotube properties range from 2 - 100 nm in diameter and lengths up to 100 nm. These nanotubes are offered in selective diameter ranges and are offered as Purified nanotubes.
SINGLE-WALL NANOTUBES
|
| |
Our CVD Single-wall nanotube properties range from 1.2-2 nm in diameter and
1 - 15µm in length. The purified single-wall nanotubes are treated much in the same way as the multi-wall nanotubes, resulting in a purity of greater than 90% nanotubes with the remaining material being amorphous carbon and less than 2.0% ash
