- Then, an antioxidant is added to the test group.

This is how researchers discovered just how powerful C60 fullerenes are in comparison to vitamin C.
Even more interesting, when compared to vitamin C and vitamin E, C60 fullerenes were found to exhibit higher antioxidant capacity under all oxidation conditions (the active oxygen sources):
- Lipid radicals
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Superoxide radicals
It also showed high antioxidant capacity against active oxygen brought on by ultraviolet radiation.
